Group Security Manager 3 views

Our client, a giant in the FMCG arena, is currently looking for a Group Security Manager based the Group Head Office. Reporting to the Group SHERQ Head, the successful incumbent will develop the security vision, strategy, priorities, and lead and direct security and crime prevention activities across the Group, both here and in SSA.

We are essentially looking for an ex-Military, ex-SAPS or Security Consultant who has “been there, done that” experience operationally and has worked in multiple geographies in Africa.

The role has no direct reports, as each Country manages their own security.  A strong influencer who can manage the security agenda from afar and through others with no positional power. You have existing strong networks in Africa.  Personally manage the gritty investigations that are needed in a unique role such as this. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant Crime Prevention and Security Field.
  • Proven track record in designing a security strategy, and experience in designing and rolling out policies, procedures and minimum standards, and championing implementation in multiple countries within Africa.
  • Good understanding of Civil, Criminal and Employment Law, with experience in Military or Civil Police field.
  • Extensive experience of operating in Security across Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience in directing the security and crime prevention agenda to support implementation, and providing best practice expertise and guidance.
  • Proven ability to conduct interviews, lead major crime investigations and provide adequate guidance to the Executive and Country Leadership teams when facing crisis response or major crime incidents is essential.
  • Proven experience and well-honed skills in investigation management and processes, with the ability to manage the initial response while deciding whether or not Group Security assistance will be required.
  • Project management exposure, with demonstrable achievement in leading and project-managing key investigations.
  • Proven track record in proactively building a wide network of contacts to support intelligence.
  • Ability to keep calm and in control in crisis situations.
  • Proven ability to provide clear direction, achieve alignment and ensure effective delivery of security agenda.
  • Proven influencing skills and the ability to engage and persuade senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record in coaching, guiding and developing others.
  • Proven ability to manage external contracts/outsourced parties.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Develop the Security vision, strategy and priorities for the Group to effectively and efficiently manage initial investigations into any major incident or security breach.
  • Design, and lead the rollout of, Group policies, procedures and minimum standards for SCIDR (security, critical incident and disaster recovery) in line with legislation, and ensure that the strategies, procedures, and operational plans for handling SCIDR within the sites are implemented, monitored and evaluated effectively.
  • Champion the implementation of proactive and reactive measures for dealing with SCIDR in Group and in-Country, develop, maintain and support efficient and effective security and crime prevention expertise and guidance to the business, and build confidence in the ability of Group Security to respond in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide best practice strategic and tactical advice in response to a critical/emergency scenario or any developing threat.
  • Provide best practice recommendations and assistance to support Group Security policies and procedures on vetting personnel securities.
  • Deliver technical reviews on security infrastructure, performance and potential improvements to ensure compliance with Group Minimum Security Standards.
  • Develop proactive intelligence opportunities and build a network of effective third party security providers for both reactive and proactive responses to incidents reported.
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies to increase security and crime prevention levels, and monitor the effectiveness of installations.
  • Lead the development of security capabilities across the Group (people skills, processes and technologies).
  • Co-operate with civil authorities and emergency responders to ensure immediate response and support is available to all sites where a SCIDR event occurs.
  • Recommend Security operational performance assessments, and Security KPIs, to measure adherence to minimum SHERQ standards and processes.
  • Decide when Group Specialist support/resources are necessary and serve as the point of contact for Group Security.
  • Ability to build and maintain an effective security liaison with Senior members of Group Security in UK.
  • Promote and adhere to Group SHERQ procedure, policy and guidelines.

Market related package, very negotiable for the right candidate.
