Continuing our Life with #TeamTSR Blog series we’ll introduce you to those in our team who’re proof that success doesn’t have to mean fighting traffic, sitting in an office and working 9 – 5 every day.
Meet Jenny McGrath, Senior Associate representing TSR’s IT specialist talent acquisition capability. Jenny makes full use of tech advances to provide top IT talent and organisations the best service from the Valley of a 1000 Hills in KZN. Read on to hear Jenny’s story…
I have been in IT recruitment and talent management for more than 20 years and have seen how quickly technology evolves, from the days when “Year 2000” and the value of the Cobol programmer was everything, to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the fundamental change it’s bringing to the way we live, work and relate to one another.
I was born and schooled in Johannesburg but studied at UKZN (PMB Campus) and fell in love then with KZN and the gentler lifestyle it offered. My husband has lived in KZN all his life except for an 8-year stint in Johannesburg and so we decided, in 2001, when my youngest son was 6 that we would move back and school our boys in KZN.
In Durban I honed my specialist search skills in an ever-changing industry, concentrating on Software Developers and IT Management roles for SME’s, Software Houses and Corporates alike.
I have always felt passion for your work is important to be successful and believe that this is intensified when you have quality down-time, and get the balance between family, friends and career right. And almost 2 years ago, after always having been based in an office, I went back to working the JHB market but from an office at home, enabled by the great advances in communication technology.
After having worked with Theo many years ago, TS Recruitment was the perfect choice for me as I knew #TeamTSR has a similar work ethic, and are professional and dedicated to delivering excellent customer service, no matter where the work is performed – even from the beauty of the KZN foothills!
I feel lucky to be able to tap into TSR’s associations with great companies like eTV, Absa, Nedbank, Primedia and others and working with like-minded professionals who all appreciate that success doesn’t have to mean giving up the right to be a wife, mother and friend. I have so enjoyed working with TSR’s energetic team and hope to be part of it for many years.
